New Capacity in Event Coverage

A handful of insurers will revise special event policies during the next few months amid the entrance of two new markets. This relatively stable segment combines low claims frequency and severity with only a high-severity event — such as the hot air balloon accident at a Virginia festival earlier this month — likely to trigger changes to pricing.

Any changes would usually be specific to the type of event that resulted in any losses. Even with new exposures, including growing events such as mud runs and Pickleball, most carriers don’t see the need to revise forms or adjust rates.  (5-19-14)
